Translation
WKRS 384 Ice (with Spring Ice appended)
Ice has sealed the water’s surface— / there are no waves to hear; / snow has dotted the tips of forests— / now there are flowers to see!
WKRS 385 The frost prevents the crying of the crane— / it’s too cold now for dew; / the water causes the fox to be suspicious— / still too thin, the ice!
WKRS 386 The moonlight in the vast sky / Is so cold / That the water catching its reflection / Has frozen first.
(Rimer 1997, pp. 118-119)
