The white dew settling / on the chrysanthemums and / I whose nights are made / restless by these barren tidings / will vanish in the morning sun. KKS XI: 471 -Ki no Tsurayuki. so suddenly was / my heart dyed with passion for / you it leapt high as / the waves in the waters of / the swift Yoshino River (Rodd 2017, pp. 183-184).
