[御あかし文など書きたる心ばへなど、さやうの人はくだくだしうわきまへければ、常のことにて、] れいのふちはらのるり君といふか御ために／奉るよくいのり申給へその人この比なん／み奉りいてたるその願もはたし奉る／へしといふをきくもあはれ也・[朱点] ほうしいとかし／こき事かなたゆみなくいのり申侍し／しるしにこそ侍れといふいとさはかしうよ一／夜おこなふ也あけぬれは知れる大とこの／はうにおりぬ物語心やすくとなるへし／姫君のいたくやつれたまへるはつかしけにおほし [たるさま、いとめでたく見ゆ。]

[miakashibumi nado kakitaru kokorobae nado, sayō no hito kudakuda shū wakimae kereba, tsune no koto ni te,] rei no fujiwara no rurigimi to iu ga ontame ni tatematsuru yoku inori mōshi tamae sono hito kono goro nan mi tatematsuri idetaru sono gan mo hatashi tatematsuru beshi to iu wo kiku mo aware nari ・hōshi ito kashikoki koto kanata yumi naku inori mōshi habeshi shirushi ni koto haberedo iu ito sawagashū yo hitoyo okonau nari akenureba shireru daitoko no bō ni orinu monogatari kokoro yasuku tonaru beshi ・himegimi no itaku yatsure tamaeru hazukashige ni oboshi [tarusama, ito medetaku miyu]

Translation
Genji Monogatari XXII Tamakazura: A Lovely Garland [This priest had long been aware of what she had written in her formal prayers to Kannon, and so he understood the situation when Ukon explained to him what happened.] “As always I have come to you on behalf of the Fujiwara Princess, Ruri. Make sure you offer my prayers properly. I recently came upon the young lady, and so I must offer my gratitude to Kannon for granting my request.” Those in the young lady’s party who overheard her were deeply moved. “What wonderful good fortune,” the priest replied. “It is a sign that we have not been lax in our prayers.” The raucous services continued all through the night. When dawn broke, both parties returned to the lodgings of the priest whom Ukon had long relied upon to offer her prayers. There, they were able to talk things over more openly and at their leisure. The young lady seemed embarrassed about her humble clothing; [her attitude was quite becoming.] (Washburn 2011, pp. 472-473)
