Translation

SIS XIV: 853 [Topic unknown. -Hitomaro.] how endless, this time / apart from the one I love, / as thick as reeds / outstretched before a small boat / pushing its way to harbor

SIS XIV: 854 placed among / the fields of Iwashiro / was a pine branch tied in offering… / my heart is not unbound / by thoughts of long ago

SIS XIV: 855 -Anonymous. My home / by Harima’s inlet / lies not, yet / he brings none of Akashi’s brightness / with his coming … - (http://www.wakapoetry.net/sis-xiv-855/)
SIS XIV: 856 Among the waves / I see islets, / beaches covered with bushes; / how long it’s been / without a glimpse of you…
(http://www.wakapoetry.net/sis-xiv-856/)

SIS XIV: 857 -Hitomaro.
though I pick it up / morning after morning and look
upon / the unblemished mirror /
never is the time / I’ve had my fill of you

SIS XIV: 858
they say all rain hats
are woven from the rushes
of Arima…
it is so, even just after we meet /
my thoughts rush to see you again
