尋ても我こそとはめ/みちもなくふかさよもき/のもとのこゝろを/とひとりこちており/給へは御さきの露をむ

Transliteration

Genji Monogatari XV
tazunetemo / ware koso towame / michi mo naku / fukasa yomogi no / moto no kokoro wo
to hitorikochite ori tamaeba onsaki no tsuyu wo mu

Translation

Genji Monogatari XV Yomogiu: A Ruined Villa of Tangled Gardens
Whereupon Genji murmured a poem to himself: Though deep tangles of woods obscure the path / Now that I am here I long to see her / This woman whose heart has remained constant. His mind made up, Genji alighted. Koremitsu took a riding crop from one of his escorts and used it to sweep away the dew… (Washburn 2011, p. 351)
