Translation

KKS VII: 369 [Composed the night of the farewell party held at the residence of Prince Sadatoki for Fujiwara no Kiyofu, who was newly appointed Vice-Governor of Ōmi. -Ki no Toshisada.] today we must part / although I think we may meet / again tomorrow / at Ōmi my sleeves are dew- / drenched for the night has grown late
KKS VII: 370 Sent to someone who had gone to the northern provinces. I have heard there there / in the land for which you leave / Returning Mountain / stands still I shall long for your / return if spring mists hide you
KKS VIII: 371 Composed at a farewell banquet. -Ki no Tsurayuki. how I shall miss you / after you have disappeared / like the soft white clouds / which float across the heavens— / you for whom I yearn today (Rodd 2017, pp. 153-154)

KKS VII: 369 [Composed on the night of a farewell party at Prince Sadatoki's house for Fujiwara Kiyō, when Kiyō was leaving to serve as Vice-Governor of Ōmi. -Ki no Toshisada] Though we part today, / we may meet in Ōmi / again tomorrow - / but is it deepening night / that brings moisture to my sleeve?
KKS VII: 370 Sent to someone who went to Koshi. Although I have heard / of a Returning Mountain, / how I shall miss you / if we must be kept apart / as by rising springtime haze.
KKS VII: 371 Composed at a farewell party. I mourn your absence / even as we say farewell. / How then might I feel / after you have journeyed forth / to lands beyond the white clouds? -Ki no Tsurayuki (McCullough 1985, p. 89)
